This home is part of Forest Grove High School’s Viking House program, a local tradition with more than 50 years of history. What Is the Forest Grove High School Viking House Program?

The Viking House program gives Advanced Construction students the opportunity to help build an actual home while working alongside industry professionals. Students perform the major carpentry tasks throughout the school year, gaining experience with the expectations and deadlines of a real construction project.

According to the program’s website, the first Viking House was completed in 1975, and students have completed a new home or facility project each year since. The program is self-funded through profits from previous projects. Learn about the Viking House program.

Learning Skills That Last Beyond Graduation

A house gives students something tangible to work toward. Measurements, materials, schedules, and teamwork all have a purpose when someone will eventually live in the finished space.

It also gives the community something lasting. Years after a class graduates, the home remains part of Forest Grove.

What makes Viking House stand out is the combination of its longevity, professional involvement, and completed homes throughout the community.
